The European Commission has opened a public consultation on the forthcoming Skills Portability Initiative, designed to enhance the visibility of skills and make it easier for qualified professionals to live and work across Europe.

The initiative will examine potential measures to:

• Digitise learning and qualification credentials
• Increase clarity and transparency around skills and qualifications
• Update recognition systems for regulated professions
• Streamline the recognition of qualifications and skills for non-EU nationals

The Commission encourages workers, employers, and relevant stakeholders to contribute by sharing practical challenges they face when working or recruiting across national borders.

The questionnaire and call for evidence will remain open until 27 February 2026.
