San Marino has officially been included into EUSAIR, which is the fastest growing macro-regional strategy. The strategy aims to offer common solutions for common challenges.
About San Marino
San Marino is a small republic and Europe's third smallest state situated in central Italy. The official language is Italian, but also the Celto-Gallic dialect is widely spoken, which is very similar to the Piedmont and Lombardy dialects. San Marino's total area is 61 km2 and 33,562 people live there. San Marino's main trading partner is Italy and the principal resources of the small republic are industry, tourism, commerce, agriculture and craft products. About three-fourth of the land is given to permanent cultivation and the mild climate is favourable for many typical Mediterranean vegetation. More than four-fifth of the country's population is the so-called Sammarinese citizen and the remaining population is Italian.
San Marino's viewpoint on joining EUSAIR
The country desired to be part of EUSAIR to strengthen the cooperation between the Member Countries of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative. The action of San Marino will be incorporated in a new cooperation framework which will enable to complement the skills and knowledge of the people who can act as technical experts. Although the area of San Marino is smaller than in other Member Countries, the republic wishes to be able to enhance the principles underlying the process of European integration.
