On March 19, delegates from North Macedonia, Albania, and Greece—along with the European Commission, UNDP, PONT, and EUSAIR Pillar Coordinators—convened to reaffirm their dedication to the Ohrid-Prespa region. The primary objective of the gathering was to fast-track collaborative projects under the EUSAIR Strategy.
The session emphasized several core areas:
- Political Unity: A high level of commitment demonstrated by the three participating nations.
- Milestones: A review of significant progress made possible through EU and regional partnerships.
- Expert Contributions: Specialized input from Pillar 3 (Environment & Biodiversity) and Pillar 4 (Sustainable Tourism).
- Local Governance: The essential role that European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs) play in driving regional growth.
- Forward Planning: Strategy development for a cross-border Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) approach, focusing on immediate, high-impact actions.
This multi-sectoral workshop serves as a premier model of how EUSAIR’s collaborative framework promotes ecological health, biodiversity, and eco-friendly tourism in one of the area's most significant natural habitats.
