Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Fostering Regional Collaboration for a Resilient Danube Region

On April 3, 2025, Mostar was the venue for an important EUSDR Cross-PA event focused on water management, emergency response, and disaster risk reduction. Hosted under the Bosnian and Herzegovinian EUSDR Presidency, the event brought together representatives from key institutions to explore challenges, share effective solutions, and promote greater cooperation in these vital areas.


Key Highlights from the Event:


🔹 Enhancing Regional Collaboration – Attendees highlighted the critical role of cross-border partnerships in managing disasters and mitigating risks.
🔹 Sharing Best Practices – Successful initiatives in flood risk management, emergency preparedness, and institutional cooperation were showcased.
🔹 Encouraging EU Candidate Countries' Participation – Discussions centered on involving EU candidate nations in EUSDR activities, ensuring their active role in macro-regional strategies.

Interactive Knowledge Cafés and Moving Forward


The event featured Knowledge Café discussions, where experts and policymakers collaborated to identify challenges and outline practical solutions. Topics covered included nature-based approaches to flood prevention and improving coordination among first responders.
Following the event, new partnerships and action plans were proposed to improve disaster preparedness and support sustainable water management across the Danube Region. The Bosnian and Herzegovinian EUSDR Presidency reaffirmed its dedication to fostering collaboration and building a more resilient future.
