Join the Online Workshop: “Is the Future of Port Systems Still Green? – Navigating Decarbonisation, Competitiveness, and Skills in the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion”

As part of the lead-up to the Pillar 2 (Transport and Energy) Workshop, titled “Green and Smart Ports: Shaping the Future of Green Transition and Skills Development in the Adriatic-Ionian Region”, scheduled for 16 October 2025 in Trieste, there are two focused online workshops designed to involve key stakeholders from across the Adriatic-Ionian area.

The first online session will take place on 27 June 2025, bringing together Port Authorities and Terminal Operators within the EUSAIR region. Under the theme “Is the Future of Port Systems Still Green?”, this session will delve into the vital links between decarbonisation efforts, economic competitiveness, and the development of relevant skills in the port and maritime sectors.

This workshop aims to:

  • Highlight shared insights and successful examples of sustainable and forward-thinking port technologies.
  • Identify mutual challenges and opportunities in meeting environmental targets without compromising operational performance.
  • Explore education and workforce training needs to support the green transition, aligning with the broader goals of the European Pact for Skills.

A second virtual session, aimed at universities and training institutions, is planned for September 2025, further contributing to the ongoing dialogue in the lead-up to the Trieste event.
