“Living Without Leaving?”: European Commission Opens Call for Young Artists from the Adriatic and Ionian Region

The European Commission is inviting young artists (aged 18-35) from countries involved in the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region to explore themes of belonging, migration, and the right to remain.

Through mediums such as painting, ceramics, digital art, and mixed media, participants are encouraged to reflect on their personal ties to their home country. How can cultural heritage be preserved after living abroad for years? Is the bond to one's homeland permanent? Living Without Leaving? offers a platform for emerging artists to express these questions creatively.

This initiative forms part of the European Commission's support for the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region, promoting values like inclusion, cooperation, and solidarity. In collaboration with the University of Ioannina – Faculty of Fine Arts, the competition aims to stimulate conversation on themes of mobility and rootedness, presenting a variety of viewpoints from across the region. The selected works will be showcased in a traveling exhibition across Belgium, Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia in 2025, allowing these artistic reflections to reach diverse audiences.
